We spent the entire day at Grandmas house eating,talking and playing ping pong .. and of course the most eventful part of the day .. The White Elephant Gift Exchange!!

Original History

This is the original table in the Whitney home where the translation of the book of mormon took place !!

Above we sit in the room where the School of The Prophets would gather.. that was truely a humbling experience !

The pictures to the right are pictures of what the Kirtland Temple and the John Johnson Inn actually looked like back in the day .. i loved these pictures... i thought it was such creative photography for being such old photos....

Then we headed on to the Newel K Whitney Store and the Whitney home where we were given such insightful tours from the sister missionaries. I really learned so much ...

Historic John Johnson Farm

I was in complete awe.. when we visted the home where Prophet Joseph Smith recieved revelation you find in D:C 76 .. and also where he was beaten, tard and feathered by a large mob.. and then the next morning after loosing a baby in the event of his beating preached at the front steps where we are sitting....

After he preached ..Joseph baptised some of the men who had just previously horribly beaten him ..Amazing isn't it !!

I instantly fell in love with the architecture of the home .. it has been so wonderfully restored. I encourage anyone who is near Hyrum Ohio to visit it

The Famous Hunt

Every year the

very intelligent Jim Kirk (Dad) puts us all to the test with a series of mind boggling riddles that have hidden messages in them to find a clue ..

that leads to another clue ... and another clue until you find the Prize!!

The hunt included going to the middle schools band bus .. to a neighbors dog house ... and chasing not one but two chickens! It literally took us an entire day to finish the scavenger hunt..

Which ended with gummy bears and some sweet $$$

What did we do?

We ate & We Played......

And We ate & Played some More

Our SUPRISE visit came as a shock to Matthews family ...i will admit i loved the reaction..

.. All thanks to uncle Ken and his family who I absolutely LOVE!!

Matthews mom let out a scream while Sarah had a look on her face of disbelief

Then the fun began decorating the crab apple tree ... yes a crab apple tree

Christmas at the Kirk's is no ordinary christmas .. it's better

In attempts to decorate the tree it fell on us twice .. let me tell ya it didn't feel good i think i still have thorn wounds on my hands :)

I thought this was so cool with the floating candles ..

We were lucky to have a clear night with all the snow storms in the forecast.. it really turned out to be a true winter wonderland in my eyes.

(It was mine and Chantel's first time seeing the lights at temple square)

I was really glad they came with us it still feels like i don't have any friends here so im grateful when i do see them !
